YAY!! This event marks the "official" start of summer for our family :) Unfortunately, it's a little late this year since we have to buy a new pool. We usually set it up and fill it in the beginning of june...but, better late than never. Last year was a little bit later too, since we had to excavate (sp?) the yard for a flat surface, since the pool has to be on 100% perfectly level ground. Isaiah even got out there with a leveling tool. That was quite a project!!
This is the pool we've had in the past.
We bought it for the twins for their birthday when they turned 10. It was worth EVERY penny we spent on it! This is one of those things that you get your money's worth out of. And since all of my kids are half fish anyway, it was a great investment :) That pool lasted us 4 seasons...not too bad. Last year we had issues with it because a little mouse decided to make his winter home in it and chew it to pieces. Plus, half way through the summer, out cat decided to jump up on it to see what was inside it. Since the top ring is filled with air, she popped it. This year, it's time for a new one. We have decided to go with a different model though, and avoid the whole "blow-up" aspect of it. We're going with this one:
In this picture, the new one looks smaller, but it's actually the same size as the old one. It's not huge, but it serves it's pupose perfectly. The water level goes just about up to Hailey's shoulders (this one might be deeper than our other one though). Someday we'll have a "real" pool, but this is good for now as I have a hard enough time keeping this size clean and chemically balanced.
So, I'm going out to buy one on Saturday and I can't wait!!! I hope that Isaiah can get permission to bring the water truck from work over on saturday or sunday. We tried to fill it with our hose last year in this house and we ran the well dry several times :( Of course, that means I have to try and hold Hailey off from getting in it until monday or tuesday. That's going to be hard!
